Squad Battles: Are They Worth It?
The FIFA 18 introduction of Squad Battles finally gives players a reason to play against the AI. Here’s how the point system works, what the rewards are, and how the schedule is laid out.
How It Works
Squad battles, in a nutshell, can be compared to weekend league. The better you do, the more points you get, thus placing you in a higher ranking with better rewards. Players have an allotted amount of games (44) that are to be played. However, there are a couple key differences between the two.
The biggest difference is that Squad Battles are played against the AI rather than online. This allows you to choose your difficulty, giving you the option to play on Beginner, Amateur, Semi-Pro, Professional, World Class, Legendary or Ultimate. Playing on higher difficulties can yield you more points.
Difficulty Bonus Multiplier:
- Ultimate – 2.6
- Legendary – 2.1
- World Class – 1.6
- Professional – 1.0
- Semi-Pro – 0.7
- Amateur – 0.6
- Beginner – 0.5
Squad battles, unlike weekend league, do not require you to qualify. Because of this, there are many more people that will participate. Even the casual players will have an opportunity play in this game mode and earn some solid rewards in the form of packs and coin gifts.

In my opinion, squad battles are a great addition Ultimate Team. The rewards are great, and it gives people a reason to play every day. Much of the FIFA community believes that this daily format will eventually replace the current format for weekend league (40 games over the weekend), which I think is a great idea. What do you guys think? Will you be participating?
Cheers,
