I’m curious what you and other users think about with regards to the tactics of the game. I’m a casual player and know that I’ll never be that Div. 1, 2, or 3 player. Unfortunately the gameplay seems to have changed a lot in FIFA 18. No matter what I do, defending by the AI is horrible and players can’t seem to get into positions to connect and or make runs. So what’s the trade secret? Custom tactics, player instructions, work rates, formation, all of the above? I’ve done so much experimenting and I still can’t figure it out.
The two biggest things I’ve changed to improve my defending are:
1. Use right stick to switch rather than LB. Positioning your players is hugely important defensively in FIFA 18, and getting comfortable with RS to switch to any player on the pitch at any time has helped me a lot.
2. Using RB to apply pressure to the ball. This can be a bit tricky as you have to get accustomed to holding both RB and RT at the same time. Once I figured that out, I had a lot more success defensively.
I missed to buy the 83/84. Now they are in the 1700-2000. If I buy under 2k, will I make any money?
I think there will still be money to be made on 83/84s with the upcoming OTW SBCs. People will go nuts over the possibility of packing a OTW Neymar, Mbappe, or Salah from the Fall, and likewise be craving a Winter OTW Sanchez, Coutinho, or Mkhitaryan. High rated cards should go up even more so than with TOTW SBCs in my opinion, with 83s potentially rising to 3k and 84s to 6k.

I decided to invest in gold fitness (now we can buy it for 650-700 coins, I remember times when they were worth about 1,5k). How do you think, is it good investment? When can I expect gold fitness’ price to rise?
P.S. Concerning your previous post about switching players with RS to improve defending… How does it work? I used to try to use RS for switching players, but usually when I use RS to do so, the game switches to the other player than I wanted to… =( … Is it lack of skill or have I change sth in the settings of the game or what? 🙂

Some strategies that I’ve mentioned in the trading pages are more effective in some FIFA installments that others. As for squad fitness, unfortunately that isn’t a good method in FIFA 18 (I bought over 1000 to start the game, and they never panned out). With so many more packs obtainable through Daily Objectives and Squad Battles this year, their supply always remained high and price never increased as a result.
As for RS, it just takes practice. The nice thing about it is that the your stick control is transferable to other facets of the game i.e. my speed dribble and skill moves on the attack have improved as a result of my use of the RS defensively.

In light of the likely OTW SBC Ive bought 8 current “low value” OTWs. Couldnt afford more. All bought around 20k (Kessie, Hernandez, Bruma). I saw that Kessie recently jumped to 40k but I decided to hold all until the SBC is there (hopefully). Is such 40k the peak, or could it rise even further (didnt play last year, so i dont know what return could be possible). Short insight would be welcome and keep up the good work!

His price jumped because he scored 2 goals for AC Milan (1 from penalty) this weekend and people think he will receive an Inform card. That’s the reason his price jumped, not because of the OTW SBC.
Yes, Chris is correct. And I agree with Joe. Take that profit and run. You could use the coins to invest in 83s/84s as I think they will rise with the OTW SBCs as well.

There is live event starting Jan 26, it’s called Fut Champions Cup. EA claims that there will be rewards for linking our EA to Twitch accounts and watching the event. Does anybody know what kind of rewards can we expect for watching it?
Most likely a bronze contracts pack and a piece of gum.

I for example have a De Bruyne which will probably go from 89 to 91.
I have IF Sterling and others going up…
How much will those cards go up? De Bruyne is around 190k right now on PS4.
Would you maybe recommend selling him and buying other cards in bulk like Salah that will be upgraded upto maybe 85?
The base cards aren’t upgraded…only the informs and special cards. For example, Nainggolan got an upgrade last year from 84 to 85. That didn’t remove his 84 from the market – it only added a new base 85 Nainggolan to the rotation. Following the upgrade, if you packed Nainggolan you would get the 85 version, not the 84.
If anything, I would say De Bruyne’s value will most likely go down – although his supply will be cut off, he will no longer be the most desired base De Bruyne on the market. Same goes for other base card upgrades.
In the situation of IF Sterling, let’s say he gets an upgrade from 82 to 84. That will cause his 1IF to rise to from an 84 to an 85 or 86 and his 2IF to either stay at 86 or move up to 87.
For Salah, I’d consider getting his OTW card. It will likely continue to rise as we approach the ratings refresh event, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he banged in a few goals between now and then to hype him for a TOTW.
OTW Salah is a little above my budget.
Are there any others that I should be looking at?
What about PTG Rashford for example?
I think players from the current TOTW that might get upgraded could be a good look, actually. With a large influx of guaranteed TOTW packs opened this week, their prices could get too low. The hype leading up to the event should cause them to bounce back nicely.
Some players that could get upgrades from this TOTW include Fekir and Milinkovic-Savic. I’d wait until Sunday to see how their prices decline.
Someone like Bailey could be good as well as he might get a big upgrade

Guys… How the rating refresh works? According to Helgi’s example, let’s say I have de bruyne, and let’s say it will go from 89 to 91. Will my card get update? Or my cards will stay the same, and de bruyne with new stats will be just avalaible in the packs?
Yes, your card will stay the same while the upgraded De Bruyne will then be available in packs.
How OTW Salah investment will work? It costs about 380k right now. Lets say I’d like to invest. What must happen to bring me profit on this investment, and what is the probability to success? 🙂
Hype will make him go up even without an upgrade. As for the “probability of success”, that depends on how much you want to make on him.
Any profit. Just not to lose money, even if i’d earn 20k would be fine… but still dont get what do you mean by saying hype? (maybe stupid question, im newbie =))
You always want to be thinking about ROI (Return on Investment) when buying a player. Let’s say, rather than spending 380k on Salah, you were to buy 100, 84 rated players for 3,800 coins each (equivalent to 380,000). They raise by 1,000 coins each for OTW SBCs. So, where you could have used 380,000 coins and profited 20k on Salah, your coins would have been better spend on buying those 84s.
Always aim for investments that you think will have the best ROI. I don’t think Salah will be a great ROI, but if you had an itch to use him in your squad for the next month, I wouldn’t say it’s a bad idea.
Hype means a players price rises in anticipation of an event i.e. Kessie OTW going up in anticipation for TOTW 19.
It sounds good to invest again in 83’s/ 84’s (as I already did it, and earned). But another question that I’d like to ask is about storage… Where can I store all these 83’s/84’s…? In club I can’t keep duplicates, in unassigned items – max 5 cards… Last time I kept almost all cards in transfer list and in transfer targets, is it the only one solution?

If you exit out of Fifa and they are unassigned, I cannot buy any players through the Fifa app because I cannot open the app as I exited from fut console. I can buy Only through the console, right?

Except for that, another question about 83/84’s investment. You said to buy 84’s for 3,8k. As I can notice in the market, 84’s cost a little bit more (4,3 – 4,4k), is it still worth to invest? Or maybe it’s better to wait till the price get lower and then invest?
I don’t see the prices going down, to be honest. I think the word is out on OTW SBCs, so they have inflated a bit. 83s could still have a great return on investment, though.
Chief, sorry for kinda spamming, but I can’t resist asking another questions to dispel my doubts…
There will be rating refresh event soon. According to the predictions found i.e. on futbin.com robben will be downgraded from 88 to 87 ovrl. According to the same source, bailey will get huge upgrade from 76 to 81(bailey already have inform 84ovrl, so probably the inform might get amazing stats). The question is, is it worth to buy robben before downgrade with the hope thah his price will rise as for the reason there wont be 88 robben in packs anymore? And if it is worth to invest in bailey inform with hope that after his huge upgrade, his price will jump? (Robben 88 costs 43k right now and bailey inform 84 costs 69k)

90 rated Boateng from FIFA ’17 is the only situation that’s really comparable. He rose from about 125k to 155k during that refresh, but there’s no guarantee that will happen with Robben as he is not as widely used as Boateng.
Bailey is a good shout. The tough part will be pinpointing the time when he is at his cheapest.

Yes, Sunday during Squad Battle Rewards tends to be the cheapest time to grab players from the current Team of the Week, but it’s no guarantee.
Will the totw players’ price rise because of otw sbc? ( I have just packed thomas 83 ovrl inform, and I’m wondering if it’s better to sell it now or later i.e. during otw sbc)
OTW SBCs didn’t require informs last year. That’s not to say they won’t this year. Hard to predict.
I’m interested in buying some players like David alaba, kante, iF kimmich. When should I buy them?
Lunar New Year falls on Friday, February 16th this year. EA will release pack promotions for that event, and prices of gold players will fall as a result. Look to grab Kante and Alaba then.

You talked about picking up some fekir and milinkovic SIF. You Think the 140/150k is a good enough price ? I have 600k, thinking of picking 4 in total.
I actually like Leon Bailey more as an investment for this TOTW. Try to grab him for 70k or less.
I’m new to TOTW. If I grab baily, when do I sell him?
The longer you hold, the more he will go up (so long as he doesn’t get another inform). I’d look to sell in a couple weeks.
