Q & A Tuesday – Week 30
A weekly thread meant for discussion about anything and everything related to the FUT market. Pose your questions about player prices, investing and trading strategies, or upcoming events. I will answer questions as quickly as I can, but if you can respond before I do, feel free to hop in the conversation!
Also, follow my on Twitter if you don’t already!
When is a good time to sell my otw Batshuayi? (only somewhat expensive player in my club that I haven’t sold) He playing pretty well right now and his price is not as high as I would like. Will his price keep decreasing or should I just wait?
He will likely keep dropping. They have a tough fixture against Schalke this weekend, so he’ll have a tough time scoring against their defense. I would sell and invest in potential TOTKS SBCs for Friday.
Hey Chief. I appreciate your tips and investments but I invested in 45 Luis Alberto cards (80 rated) and they’re sitting at 1100 to 1200 coins right now on PS4. Haven’t rose for the whole week. In this case, what should I do? Should i keep them or should i just sell all of them now for a small loss?
Well you definitely want to sell them all by Wednesday, so it’s probably a good idea to at least start listing. Don’t offload the whole lot at once – I usually like to sell 3 or 4 at a time for around the minimum bid. For example, I’d list one for 1 hour at 1,200 coins, one for 3 hours at 1,200 coins, one for 6 hours at 1,200 coins, and one for 12 hours at 1,200 coins. When one sells, then list another. You should be able to offload them all by Wednesday this way.
What price did you get them for? I did say 1,000 coins was the max price to pay, so hopefully you didn’t pay much more than that.
Hi chief. I’ve currently got 100k to invest/trade with. I know how to snipe but trading is a different ball game. What sort of trading/types of players should I be investing in?
Also how do you know what minimum price each rated TOTW card is you should set limit at!?
Sorry to go on
Thanks
I’ve been stockpiling 81 and 82 rated informs. I explain why in this article. You could try to do the same. I’d set a target price for 11.5k.
As for your second question, I don’t really follow. Could you rephrase?
Hi chief. Sorry I meant say for an 82 rated totw card would you always say buy for 12k max and say an 84 rated card for 18k max price to pay for one!
Hope that makes sense!?
Ps I’ve bought 5 x vestergaard totw for 12k each is that wise and when to sell?? Thanks
For right now, yes, I’d say 12k for an 82 inform is a good price, and 16-17k is a better buy for 84 rated informs. This isn’t a static ‘buy’ price, though. High rated informs, like any card, decrease in value as the year goes on. In June, I foresee 84 rated informs being even cheaper, so your ‘buy’ price will be lower then.
As for Vestergaard, I’ve outlined your selling options in this article.
When is best time to buy cuadrado if? (Not as investment, I need him in my club, but I dont want to overpay)
Try to get him on bid for a good deal sometime this weekend, maybe 5-10k below his cheapest BIN.
Should I sell Icardi PTG before the 13th april crash or keep it hoping for the better card? Thank you
PTG and OTW cards are gambles. I don’t usually mess with them – the risk generally isn’t worth the reward. With a potential market crash looming on Friday, I would sell.
What do you think what wil happen with the price of icons after the market crash, to be more specific i now got around 300k to spend on An icon for my dutch Squad. You think 86 Gullit wil drop to 300-400k?
Icons, like everything else, will drop in price. There is too much supply hitting the market for the demand to keep up.
I don’t think Gullit will drop that much. I think him dropping 100k is more reasonable.
Will the icons rebound? I want to buy ronaldinho 91, but i dont have enough coins yet and wondering if icons will rebound (so probably I will be late) or I can stay calm…
They will rebound, but they will drop to even lower prices than TOTKS during TOTS pack promotions and lightning rounds.
When to sell 81 ifs? They didnt rise… shall we w8 for sbc with hope they will be required? And what about totgs players, they already rise to 26-28k, offload before sbc or after?
I outlined your sell options for TOTGS cards clearly in this article. They are as follows and I leave the decision to you:
Sell Option A: Sell in the hype a day before the event on April 12th. This will get you guaranteed, safe profit. I expect them to rise to around 25-30k for this.
Sell Option B: Sell after the TOTKS and SBC release on April 13th (offload sometime that weekend) in hopes EA has attractive challenges comparable to that of OTW and PTG. If they hit, TOTGS cards could rise to 40k or more.
As for informs, yes, I’m waiting until the SBCs. I also have already outlined sell options for those in multiple articles. They are as follows:
81 rated informs – sell for 25,000 coins or by Monday, April 16th, whichever comes first.
82 rated informs – sell for 27,000 coins or by Monday, April 16th, whichever comes first.
I’m hoping to have around 1.5 mil coins upon offloading my investments for the TOTKS event.
Do you have any suggestions on players/card types that might turn a handsome profit if picked up during the market crash? At the moment all I can think of is popular high rated Gold cards and Icons that ought be expected to rebound healthily (and to do so before the TOTS crash starts to make its presence felt). Should I be aiming for anything more specific or should I be keeping my eyes on as broad a range of cards as possible?
Many thanks.
I’d focus less on the rebound and focus more on getting them for a deal 10%+ lower than their cheapest BIN. With so many lightning rounds, there are bound to be cards that fall through the cracks.
I usually find a lot of success bidding an hour after the lightning rounds drop. Say packs and lightning rounds are released at 6PM. Tons of packs are opened at that time, and many of the players in these packs are listed on the market for open bid. From 7PM to 7:15PM, these players will be in the last minutes of their listing times. With so many players being listed, it is hard for the FIFA community to keep up with the supply. That is when you can grab great deals.
Being that TOTKS SBC’s haven’t yet landed, do you think this means they won’t be making an appearance this year at all or do you think there a possibility that we might see them through the week? It makes little difference to me as I’m only an investor for the fun of it but it occurs to me that it’s possible that: a) EA might be trying to stagger their SBC releases and thus their effect on the market (being that POTM, Zanetti, Pele, FGS, EPL and La Liga have all been released towards the back end of this week, not to mention that upgrade SBC’s have only just finished their residency). b) A few upgrade SBC’s have landed through the middle of the week so far this FIFA (PTG upgrades etc.) and the last batch of league SBC’s have emerged in the middle of the night. Pushing the TOTKS back a few days might keep the market in a bit of a buzz prior to TOTS and legitimise TOTKS as a ‘big event’. Lastly, this is my first year as a wannabe FIFA trader and I’ve noticed that EA have taken a legion of opportunities to subvert investment expectations… Read more »
I’ve just noticed the arrival of eMOTM cards. Feel free to ignore the first part of my message.
FIFA 18 has definitely been the year of selling in the hype for two reasons: 1) There are many more investors this year than in previous FIFA installments, causing mass listing when a particular investment goes boom or bust. 2) EA seems to have taken efforts to remain unpredictable and limit investors potential profits.
There have been situations where selling in the hype wasn’t the best option (namely OTW and PTG SBCs), but 90% of the time that was the right call.
I am still hopeful that we will see TOTKS SBCs next Friday, April 20th.
Hm okay,
I have listed a fair few of my TOTGS cards for around 20k as I (probably wrongly) assumed that eMOTM had arrived to scrub away all hopes of TOTKS SBC’s. If all sells I’ll obtain a deficit of 75-100k (which I’m not at all bothered about as I’ve probably earned twice as much since I started investing in TOTGS cards). If TOTGS cards continue to drop (some are being listed for 19k as I’m typing), would you think it a good idea to get stuck back in to TOTGS in expectation of next Friday?
Thanks for your help, your simple explanations are always appreciated.
Much obliged.
As in reinvest in TOTGS cards? Yes, there could be some money there. However, I think the safer and more profitable investment at the moment is IF Adler and Paulista from TOTW 30. People in our discord have been winning him throughout the day for 11k or less. You really can’t go wrong with an 82 rated inform with a good league and nation.
Yes, I did mean reinvest in TOTGS cards. Would you still expect them to rise to 40k+ if the SBC’s do drop next week? I know I discussed the difficulty of waiting on the events this FIFA but being that I’m not playing any matches at the moment I’m still dangerously enticed by the idea of doubling my investment.
I’ve already been getting stuck into Adler and Paulista and I’ll continue to do so if the profit’s there.
Thanks again.
If the SBCs are similar to that of OTW and PTG in that you can get a tradeable or untradeable TOTT (TOTGS or TOTKS) card, then yes, they could entirely rise to above 40k. The question now is whether we get TOTKS, when it will come, and if it will be accompanied by those SBCs. Hard to say right now.
Hi Chief,
I just packed Cristiano silver. I know that he used to sell for very high amounts, but it seems that he’s worth around 35,000 now. I don’t see any reason why his price would climb again, buy I am hesitating to sell him now. What do you think?
You are correct – there is no reason he will climb again. Take your money and move on. Not bad profit for a silver!
What to do of all those calaio Vestergaard and Fernandez will they rise
I’m holding mine for another week in hopes TOTKS is released next Friday, April 20th. If we don’t see it, then I’m going to sell.
