30 in 30: TOTW Investing
30 in 30 is a series of 30 investing and trading tips, 1 posted each day over the course of September leading up to the FIFA 21 release in October. Below is a list of the tips we have seen already.
Each Wednesday at 3pm UK time, EA releases a ‘Team of the Week’ – upgraded versions of cards based on IRL performances from the past week. These cards are put into packs at 6pm UK time on Wednesday and pulled from packs the following week at 6pm UK time.
As they are only in packs for 7 days, this presents an investing opportunity; the limited supply creates for a situation where these cards often rise when going OOP (out of packs).
There are several factors to consider when deciding which specific TOTW player to invest in, including but not limited to:
- Past performance
Shown here is TOTW 20 from FIFA 20. While there are several good looks for investment, my pick from this lot would be Acerbi; he has a good position, nation, club, and was one of the cheapest for his respective rating. In addition, his gold card had a history of good performance for SBCs, so that bodes well for an inform.
In the week after going OOP, Acerbi rose from 20-25k, Nacho Fernandez rose from 15-20k, and Guerriro rose from 15-19k.
While the ROI on these cards isn’t extraordinary, TOTW investing is a safe and simple strategy you can execute week in and week out.
In terms of when to invest, I like targeting these cards during Squad Battle rewards on Sundays. It is toward the end of their weekly cycle, and there is a good amount of supply hitting the market all at once which makes for easier snipes and price dips.
