30 in 30: Promo Investing
30 in 30 is a series of 30 investing and trading tips, 1 posted each day over the course of September leading up to the FIFA 21 release in October. Below is a list of the tips we have seen already.

- Promo Investing
Throughout the season EA releases a variety of promotions. In FIFA 20, they included:
- Summer OTW (September 27th)
- Ultimate Scream (October 18th/25th)
- UCL RTTF (November 8th/15th)
- Black Friday (November 29th)
- TOTGS (December 6th)
- FUTMAS (December 13th)
- TOTY (January 6th)
- Headliners (January 17th/24th)
- Future FUT Stars (January 31st/February 7th)
- Winter Refresh (February 14th)
- Shapeshifters (February 21st/28th)
- FUT Birthday (March 27th/April 3rd)
- TOTSSF (April/May/June)
- Summer Heat (June/July)
When these promotions come, there are 2 main ways to invest.
1. Invest in the upgraded cards from the promotion.
For nearly all of the promos listed above, EA releases a set of upgraded cards for ~ 20 players. Typically they will be in packs for 7 days from Friday-Friday, but this isn’t always the case – sometimes they stay in packs for 10 days until Monday.
Cards generally decrease in value as time goes on while they are in packs due to increased supply from pack openings. This is why it is best to invest toward they end of their pack cycle.
As a general rule, invest in promo cards on Thursday during WL/DR rewards if they go out of packs on Friday. If they go out of packs on Monday, invest during SB rewards as supply comes on the market and people sell of their WL squads. Selling on the following Thursday/Friday for the next weekend league is a good bet.
2. Invest in the upgraded cards respective gold cards.
Just as gold cards go out of packs when a player gets a new TOTW card, they also go OOP for a new promo card (excluding SBCs/objectives).
Shown in the table below is how FIFA 20 Summer OTW gold cards rose while OOP.

While you can predict which cards EA will choose for Summer OTW, that is not the case for most promos. You will not always be able to prepare yourself in advance.
For those promos which are unpredictable, a good strategy is to rash buy gold cards at 6pm UK time when EA releases the featured promo squad. But, as I’ve mentioned, not every gold card rises when OOP. Focus on players with good positions, nations, leagues, clubs, and prices, while also considering how those cards have performed in the past when OOP.
Cheers,
