30 in 30: Icons and WL Rewards

- Icons and WL Rewards
For those players with higher coins levels, investing in cheaper gold cards and TOTW cards can be tedious. While cheaper cards do tend to offer a higher ROI, it can become a hassle to buy up so many.
One consistent high-budget alternative is to invest in Icons and sell after WL rewards. When people get their reds on Thursday, they try to make hybrids around these players. Icons are useful for this as they are easily linkable.
The effectiveness of investing in Icons and selling after WL rewards is evidenced by FUTBIN’s Icon Index. It tracks the daily overall value of Icons, and comparing Wednesday values to Thursday values shows just how much Icons increase on average after WL rewards.
Wednesday Value | Thursday Value | % Change | |
---|---|---|---|
Week 1 (Oct. 10th) | 90.36 | 95.46 | +5.6% |
Week 2 (Oct. 17th) | 92.87 | 98.04 | +5.6% |
Week 3 (Oct. 24th) | 91.24 | 94.27 | +3.3% |
Week 4 (Oct. 31st) | 91.95 | 95.71 | +4.1% |
Week 5 (Nov. 7th) | 94.85 | 98.19 | +3.5% |
Week 6 (Nov. 14th) | 87.41 | 90.38 | +3.4% |
Week 7 (Nov. 21st) | 90.23 | 95.12 | +5.6% |
Week 8 (Nov. 28th) | 88.93 | 90.65 | +5.4% |
Week 9 (Dec. 5th) | 93.67 | 95.13 | +1.6% |
Week 10 (Dec. 12th) | 78.70 | 81.87 | +4.0% |
While 5% may seem slim, you can further predict successful Icons by taking rewards into consideration.
Shown above is TOTW 4 from FIFA 20, the first WL rewards of last season. In it are 3 different Italian players. With such a high likelihood of packing Italian players, investing in Italian Icons would be a good bet.
Investing in Icons for WL Rewards isn’t full proof, but there are few weekly high-budget investments that can compare to its consistency.
Cheers,
