- Dollar-Cost Averaging
Any time there is a new investment that I’m interested in, I write a post detailing the reasons why I like the investment, a Target Buy Price, and a Target Sell Price (see example MOTM Ceballos investment here).
While a Target Buy Price is a nice general number to follow, the player won’t always be sitting at that value. Sometimes the price will be substantially higher, and sometimes it will be considerably lower. For this reason, Dollar-Cost Averaging is a good strategy to use when buying.
Dollar-Cost Averaging – a simple technique that entails investing a fixed amount of money (coins) in the same fund or stock (player) at regular intervals over a period of time.
There are 2 main advantages of Dollar-Cost Averaging in relation to the FUT Market:
- Avoids Bad Timing
- Reduces Emotional Component
Referring back to the MOTM Ceballos example, his price fluctuated in the week while he was in packs from 12k-18k. By investing a fixed amount of money over different intervals, you avoid buying in a lump-sum at 18k. In addition, having a clear strategy takes some of the stress out of investing.
My favorite time to employ the Dollar-Cost Averaging strategy is during windows where there are a lot of packs being opened. For example, say you want to invest in MOTM Ceballos during WL rewards. Buying some every 10 minutes will help you average out your investment. Purchasing over longer periods of time gives you a better chance of hitting a good snipe, too.
Cheers,
Chief
